Verified by OuterSignal adds a "Used by" badge to your product pages and landing pages that shows site visitors the notable groups among your buyers, groups with social capital or cachet, such as collegiate baseball players, nurses, or barbers. A visitor either sees themselves in a group or aspires to belong to it, so the line resonates and gives them a reason to buy. The groups and counts come from your real, anonymized buyer data, and they are social proof unlike the customer reviews and creators you already use. A click on the line opens a card with every group, its count, what the group covers, and employer logos. No buyer is named.
Before you start
An active paid OuterSignal plan.
A Shopify store on an Online Store 2.0 theme.
The OuterSignal app connected to your Shopify store. See Shopify Integration.
Step 1: Enable your badge
In OuterSignal, go to Settings > Badge and click Enable badge.
OuterSignal looks at your customer base and builds the badge lines for your store. This takes a few minutes, and you can leave the page while it runs. We'll email you when your badge is ready.
The lines on the Enable badge screen are examples only. Your groups and counts will depend on your customers.
Step 2: Review every line and logo
Once your badge is ready, go back to Settings > Badge.
Under Verified stats, switch off any line you do not want shown. Up to 8 lines rotate in the badge, and the counts are read-only.
Click any employer logo you do not want shown to hide it, or turn on Hide all logos.
Under Style, pick Reviews line or Chip, turn Prominent style on or off, and pick Match my site or Custom color.
Review every line and every employer logo before you go live. Anything you leave on shows to your shoppers.
Step 3: Add the badge to your Shopify theme
On Settings > Badge, under Install on your storefront, select Install on Shopify. Your theme editor opens with the badge ready to add.
Find Verified social proof in your Product information section. The button has already added it.
Drag it to where you want the badge to sit on the page.
Save the theme.
Add the block once. A second block shows the line twice.
Settings > Badge confirms the install on its own: "Once the badge is on your product page, it'll confirm here automatically."
Step 4: Show it to shoppers
Once the badge is installed, go to Show it to shoppers on Settings > Badge and switch on Show to shoppers.
Save your changes.
While the switch is off, shoppers don't see the badge anywhere on your store. Turning it off doesn't delete anything: your lines, look and install stay as they are.
Measure the effect with your own A/B test
To see what the line does for your store, A/B test it with your own A/B testing tool. OuterSignal does not run that test for you.
What your customers see
The line: a "Used by" line on your page that names a group of your buyers and how many there are.
The count: every count shows with a plus sign, as "N+". From 100 up, counts round down to the nearest ten.
The card: a click on the line opens a "Who uses" card with your brand name. It lists every group with its count, a one-line description of who the group covers, and employer logos.
The verification note: the card shows that the counts are verified by OuterSignal.
Buyer privacy: no buyer is named on the line or the card.
